Enlightenment is one of the most misunderstood concepts that there ever was. You look at the life of Buddha and see what he had put himself though before he reached what he called enlightenment it is a wonder that anyone else in there right mind would put themselves though what he did to reach this stage called enlightenment.
Then you have authors writing books on enlightenment. Such as Jed McKenna’s trilogy series on enlightenment and then there is Stephen Davis book “Butterflies are Free To Fly” A New and Radical Approach To Spiritual Evolution. Which makes enlightenment some far off thing that is almost impossible for the common man to reach.
What enlightenment is, is the ability to connect to your inner voice. Which I have been doing for years and believe anyone who takes the time and has the desire can do. The problem is most people see this as foolishness. Even though the idea of an inner man and an outer man has been around for years. You would think by now it would be common knowledge but then this is not taught in school or most churches.
The thing is you do not have to be religious to achieve enlightenment. I remember when I was only fifteen I was with a girl, that I was hopping to get to know a little better, I had an insight about her that I shared with her. She wanted to know how I knew about it. All I could tell her was it just came to me. That was the last time I saw her.
Then when I was in the Navy due to a death in the family I had to leave my ship off the coast of Vietnam. Upon my return to the Philippines where I had to wait until my ship came back to port. I found myself short of funds so I went to the club on base where there was some slot machines. It just so happened that they were out of dimes so most of the dime machines where open. So I started playing the dime machines winning a little here and a little there when all of the sudden I had the urge to go to a machine behind me. Well I did not follow my urge and someone else walked up to the machine and won a fifty dollar jackpot.
The last one I would like to share with you was at a time in my life where while I was going to church I decide to try fasting. After a day or two I was getting very hungry and I was running a few errands in a part of town I was not familiar with when I found my self lost. Something told me to stop and get something to eat. After I finished eating I just went where I felt lead to go and after a few turns I found myself in a familiar area and was no longer lost.
The truth is every car accident I have been involved in accrued after I had a feeling of doing something different then what I was doing and failed to follow this inner voice. I have said all this not to boost but to show that I have been in touch with the inner self for years even though I did not know anything about Spiritual Enlightenment or being lead by the Spirit. I also believe that most of the people reading this can go back in their own lives and find similar incidents that they had.
So if this is the case then anyone who has had experiences like the ones I have stated are to a degree Enlightened and it is only a matter of taking time to develop the gift you already have within you. It also shows you that there is a Higher Source that cares for you and was trying to warn you before the problem arises.
